Inspiration Board #2 Vintage Carnival Ice Cream Stand

Here is my dream wedding! Basically, I want it to feel old school, boy-girl, puppy dog love. I love ice cream, so an ice cream stand is a must! Who needs cake, right? I love the roller blades in the bottom picture too :)

Pictures

I had a project for my art class where we had to do a self/non-self portrait using photography and other medias. So basically, we couldn't show our face directly in the portrait. This first one was the only picture I actually followed instructions. But I ended up not even using these for my project, but they turned out really cool. I knew exactly what I wanted for these, so i had my little sister, Abigail, come along to help me because I couldn't take the pictures by myself. We rambled into the woods with a whole collection of odd items: a mirror, a chair, an umbrella, a bag full of masks, nails, hammers, pears, hats, and the list goes on! We probably looked really funny. But here are my favorites!

Inspiration Board #1 Tropical Bird

I love the inspiration boards on Snippet and Ink and all those other bride blogs! So I decided to try and make one. What do you think? Maybe I have been thinking to much about summer and Carribean islands lately... With cool fresh air and blooming flowers. Oh! and birds just are nice :)
I don't know where I got all these pictures. I'm pretty sure that I got some from Snippet and Ink, and the venue is Hecker Phelan Guthrie Interior Designers. So if you happen to know exactly where these pictures are from, please let me know so I can give them full credit.

Update on my homework...

Here are some of my projects for my drawing class. I used charcoal for all three.
This one is my self portrait haha. I'm not that scary looking all the time...I promise :)

This piece is 18"x24"

This one was just a random portrait I did, but I won't be turning it into class. It was just for fun! The nose...well...lets just say I don't appreciate how the nose looks like its about to fall off but what can ya do! (Also 18"x24")

Then this one was an imaginative self portrait. So basically, we had to incorporate ourselves into where or what we wanted to be. I love Egypt, so I wanted to be the Sphinx. Sorry I look like a man... (This one is bigger then the other two. I think its like 22"x36" but don't quote me on that)

So there is a small update on my life the past week or so. I don't have pictures of my other projects or I would put them up. Maybe soon!

Oh and...uh...let me know whatcha think :)

Hello People

Lately, my life has been crazy. I was excited for Thanksgiving break, but at the same time I'm so relieved its over. I just want to finish this semester...fast! I have five more projects due for my two art classes. Three self portraits, with different assignments, and then a mandala and then a perspective drawing showing motion. I'll show pictures when I'm finished with them all! Just barely hanging in there, art-wise. Eeeepp. Almost done.

Wallpaper!!

I'm really into wallpaper and fun prints right now. Here's some amazing ones. They are by Mi-Sha Wallpapers. I like how they are more like murals then a bunch of little repeated patterns over and over.

If you're poor like me...

...but like designer shoes...

I've found alternatives to the designer shoes for a heck of a lot cheaper.

Hmm...Steve Maddens. $160. I wish I could afford these, but I can't. So...

How about some Target brand boots?! $29.99 ;)

I've come to the conclusion that I don't care where I get the shoes (or purses. or outfits). I care more about what it looks like. So I say it doesn't really matter if it was $130 cheaper and doesn't say Steve Madden. Its just as cute and stylish, right?

Josh Goleman Engagement Pictures

I absolutely LOVED these engagement pictures by Josh Goleman! They are incredible... Whimsical, fun, quirky and romantic in every single one. I want 'em! :)

African Artwork

I've been doing these portraits that remind me of Africa... They are kind of random, but they make me want to go over there. So I keep drawing them. I have a couple more but I just decided to show these two.

I'd really like to hear what people think about them.

(They are about 14" x 17")

Self Portrait

Sorry the picture is fuzzy, but here it is. I did it with sharpies (which are amazing by the way!) and it came out pretty fun.

Read if you ever have the chance

Do it. It's a really good book and I've learned a LOT from it.

(Launching the Imagination by Mary Stewart. Find at Barnes & Noble)

Mmmmm...

Can't wait for pumpkin pie!!! I love Thanksgiving. It's so fun to be with family and just enjoy a relaxing day (and amazing food!). This year will be really great because my uncle, aunt and cousin are in town and also we have my brother's wife-to-be and my sister's boyfriend/boyfriend's family coming for the meal.

I have to say...I've never LOVED turkey. I'll eat it, but it's definitely not my favorite meat. So we are also having a ham (yay!) along with the turkey.

I think that Thanksgiving day will be pretty easy-going. My dad, my uncle and the younger boys will probably go to the annual "Turkey Bowl" at the park down the street. All the girls (Mom, sisters, aunt, cousin) will be doing last minute cooking and listening with half an ear to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. And then occasional snacking on crackers and cheese to survive before the feast!! I think it will be a fun holiday this year...

Anthropologie Furniture

If only I could decorate with Anthropologie furniture...

"Its in the ABC of growing up..."

Favorite songs of all time!

"Speeding Cars" by Imogen Heap
"The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson
"The Show" by Lenka

I love their style and creativity. Other of my favorite artists include Keane, Sia, Copeland, Mae, A Fine Frenzy and there are several more.

I tend to listen to the more artsy and unique styles...What do you listen to?

Fall outfits

Travel in style this fall...

Then I loved this outfit. The coat...amazing! :)

(I found all these on J. Crew)

Don't be scared...

...to comment!! (if you're out there reading, that is...)

It's not that intimidating. I promise :) I want to hear what you think!

Books!!!!

I love to read. I could do it all day. I have a pretty vivid imagination, so that's helpful :) its like watching a movie in my head. Some of my favorites? The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Harry Potter series, Anne of Green Gables Series, and no joke, the list could go on and on...and on.

Prints

These were the prints I was thinking about adding to Etsy...just to see what would happen :) My one hesitation is that there is going to be a lot to the whole process, and I don't have much time right now. I need to find a place where I can have them printed (any ideas?), buy good packaging in case I DO sell one :), and then a few other little technical things. Anyway, enough rambling. Here they are:

...What do you think?

Etsy

Etsy is a website I love to go look through! Basically, its a place where artists and crafty people can sell what they made. My favorite artist on etsy is Swallowfield. Her artwork is cute and fun and completely unique. Her personality is displayed in every piece, as you can see below.

I thought about putting some of my small artwork prints on Etsy, but we'll see. Next post, I'll show you the prints I was thinking about.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving...

I found all these Thanksgiving table settings on Martha Stewart's website and thought that they were a fun alternative to the typical handmade-turkey/leaf/pumpkin-cutouts-because-your-mother-in-law-is-almost-here-and-you-have-nothing.

Felt leaves on top of the table cloth is a pretty and thoughtful and makes you look a lot more crafty then frantically buying the first pilgrim patterned table cloth you find on clearance :)

Home-printed linens! Sounds like fun...I'm going to try it.

Hecker Phelan Guthrie Interior Designers

This designer is absolutely fantastic. He's unexpected and shocking, which are two traits I love the most! :) He has a very distinct and unique style, modern with a personal twist. You should most definitely check out his website here, but I added a few pictures of his previous projects so you could get a glimpse.
I love the chandeliers in this bar. They help balance the ceiling with the bottom part of the room.
Zebra floors, anyone? Why not?
And then I just liked this one...

Art

I'm taking art classes at a community college (Drawing 1 and Visual Concepts 2D Design). I LOVE it! I've learned a lot and I feel like I've improved in my drawing skills. I'm pretty sure I want to some form of art in college but I don't know what kind...there are so many to choose from! Here's a figure drawing I did a few weeks ago. (The original is about 18" x 24")
